Emily & Keegan’s Minneapolis Wedding at Millennium Hotel

02-19-21

A wedding day is no less than a dream come true! And we love witnessing people living this dream without or with our camera. We are lucky that our profession gives us a chance not only to witness these dreams coming true but also to turn them into beautiful pictures that the beholders (couple) keep close to their hearts forever and a day. Dreams seem like dainty clouds floating to and fro when they are in our sky-like head, however, once they mature and hop out of our minds into the real world they are robust like oceans, stable like mountains, bright like the sun, beautiful like the moon, lucid like air, and punctual like earth. A mere invisible creature (coronavirus) cannot even touch it (provided we follow the guidelines). And that’s what Emily and Keegan showed it to the world on 5th September 2020. Their special events were completely corona-proof by all accounts and everyone including our wedding photographers made sure the COVID rules and guidelines were adhered to.

We all love fall weddings. Besides June and October, September is the third favorite month amongst newly engaged couples and we are not surprised that the couple chose September to get married in Minneapolis. One of many reasons might be the mildest weather. The last things you want your guests to do are sweat through their shirts or freeze their toes off. Their September wedding had the perfect reflection of fall and summer, the two most popular wedding seasons. Fall was officially on the brink and we all got a long-awaited break from the summer heat. Bringing the best of both worlds, September provided that fall vibes while offering the still-warm weather of summer to Emily and Keegan’s wedding. Who doesn’t love warm days and cool nights combo and the sounds of crisp changing leaves below our shoes?! The only thing that we had to keep in mind was - timing the photos according to the shorter day.

Like many couples, they also dreamt of their wedding for more years than they cared to admit. While the styles, even location, of those dreams changed over the years, what they hoped for that day never did: to be married to the person of their dreams, surrounded by their family and loved ones, to toast to the beginning of their marriage with champagne, good food, and heartfelt sentiments, and to dance the night away to great music with even better friends. Considering all sorts of possibilities for the big day, from their immediate family only to a smaller guest count to the whole shebang, the star-crossed lovers intentionally decided to tie the knot at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and host a reception party at Minneapolis Event Centers in Minneapolis.

Ah, Minneapolis! When it comes to getting hitched, the Twin Cities (together with neighboring city Saint Paul) is in a league of its own. Known for its unforgiving winter seasons and having more than its fair share of lakes, Minneapolis aka the City of Lakes is a treat to the senses not only for lovers but also for photographers. You might know the city is rich in history and culture; but do you know that Minnesota’s largest city is one of the biggest little cities in the U.S. (47th largest state in the U.S.)? Home to Minneapolis Public Library, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Minnehaha Regional Park, Weisman Art Museum, Walker Art Center, Chain of Lakes Regional Park, Hidden Falls, Island Parks like Boom and Nicollet, Como Pavilion, and more, Minneapolis is the first choice of most newly engaged couples for engagement photo sessions as well. Click here to look at the 12 top-rated tourist attractions in Minneapolis. From snowy wonderland to colorful falls to glimmering skylines to enchanting lakes to majestic nature-laden parks, the city has everything you need to make your pre-wedding and post-wedding days unforgettable. Wedding venues in Minneapolis come in all shapes and sizes. Some are old, some are new. Some are rustic, others refined. Many offer a whimsical setting, while some are sleek and modern, just waiting to be transformed. With so many options available in our great twin towns finding a wedding venue for our couple that fits their style, size, budget, and timeline was a bit tricky but we are happy that they chose two of the most coveted Twin Cities wedding venues- Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and Minneapolis Event Centers for their traditional Church wedding and contemporary reception party respectively. It’s easy to see why! Both of these venues are something out of the ordinary. They wanted something different, something unique, something that their loved ones will remember forever. And they got it! Both these places squarely fitted into their wedding visions and goals.

Emily and Keegan are one of those full-of-beans couples that you just like off-the-bat. From our first consultation meeting to the big day, Emily and Keegan are a delight to talk to and get to know. Kayla relished being their wedding photographer extremely and had so much fun interacting with all of their guests. Keep scrolling to know why their love story is worth talking about.

Let’s talk a bit about the location they exchanged their vows at- Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Founded in 1922, this stunning Minneapolis wedding venue is located in the heart of St. Paul's Macalester-Groveland neighborhood and is home to more than 1,900 families — many of whom have been formed by and worshipping together with the Nativity community for generations. The couple got ready for their ceremony in the chic getting-ready rooms of Minneapolis Event Centers which is hardly 15 minutes away from the church. We started our day by shooting all the big little details around the bride and groom, and the guests later. With all the time and energy that goes into planning a wedding, there's an obvious need for gorgeous pictures of every single detail that'll stand the test of time. From unique decor pieces to the welcome wedding board to wedding invitation to the tablescape to cards & gift box to the masks reading ‘Love is in the air’- we are happy that our professional wedding photographers in Minneapolis didn’t miss even a single detail on the wedding day. We especially loved the zoomed-in portrait of the unity candle along with the two taper candles!

The Minneapolis wedding photographers captured the getting-ready phase in the most beautiful frame. The bride and her gang had the ceremony programwedding invitation, and all the other coordinating items on hand when the photographer arrived. She first took shots of Emily’s pretty bridal accessories including her block heel sandals fitted with a thin halo ankle strap, encrusted with a row of tiny crystals, that fastens with an adjustable buckle and a vamp toe strap embellished with crystals and beads as well as delicate fabric flowers, spectacular wedding ring set, lovely lacey pair of garter, and charming chandelier silver and pearl bridal earrings which are an elegant cascading creation studded with sparkling CZ crystals and ivory white pearls completed with a crystal teardrop. Not only solo shots of every accessory but also together. The wedding garter and other accessories looked great all paired together in the picture, they were all coordinated. Her wedding garter went along with the wedding theme or color palette. The photograph where the wedding rings are kept on the pink roses of the bridal bouquet tickled us pink! Perhaps this is what we call a ‘bed of roses’ (excuse the pun please)!

After that, our wedding photographer in the Minneapolis suburbs shot the beautiful bridal dress taking Emily in the frame. She looks gorgeous in her white satin getting-ready robe holding her bridal gown. The shutterbug also clicked some beautiful shots of her bridal gang rocking their getting-ready robes in different shades of pink. The picture where Emily is sitting on the bed of the bridal suite amidst her fave girls so much resembles her bridal bouquet! Soon, she slipped into her trendy and timeless wedding gown- a pretty fit-and-flare gown featuring embellished lace, a corset bodice, and detachable off-the-shoulder sleeves complete with a cathedral train and veil adding dreaminess to the attire. Complementing its embellished off-the-shoulder straps, the romantic sweetheart neckline of her mermaid gown highlighted her beautiful collar bones in a way that's elegant but a bit sexy, too. Beaded lace overlay beaded and sequined tulle for a sparkle effect. We are sure it was her long blonde hair after her million-dollar smile that swept Keegan off his feet. Her mid-parted half-up-half-down wedding hairstyle adorned with an eye-catching hair accessory on the back and a pair of face-flattering pearl earrings on the front dangling over her wavy locks and kissing her blushed cheeks made her look like an angelic mermaid! Her minimal makeup was nicely highlighting her naturally beautiful facial features. Just a romantic bridal bouquet and she was camera-ready for the breathtaking bridal portraits! Pretty in Pink!! Our bride's bouquet was a bright floral bouquet complemented by its dark green accents. It featured the shades of light pinks and magentas, including garden roses with accents of Ruscus. Our wedding photographers in and around Minneapolis couldn’t help but take photo after photo of this gorgeous bride! Just like a sunflower in a field of roses, the mother of the bride looked stunning in her sleeveless Fuschia-colored satin full-length gown featuring a princess V-neckline. The father of the bride's gray suit coupled with a satin silver-gray tie was also falling in line with what the groom and the groomsmen were wearing. Emily’s bridal team slayed in pink A-line chiffon sleeveless floor-length bridesmaid dresses boasting a sweetheart neckline and mirroring the wedding theme. The girls held cascading bridesmaids’ bouquets made of white roses, greenery, and magnolia trail well-coordinated with Emily’s.

On the contrary, our heady groom, Keegan was looking handsome as always in his black suit and white shirt complete with a matching black bow, white pocket square, and formal shiny black shoes. The decent steel cufflinks and the white rose boutonniere on the lapels of his coat amped up the ensemble while matching the bride’s bouquet. His dark brown side-parted hair with the clean-shaven charming innocent face can win any girl’s heart in a heartbeat! The close-up groom shot focusing on Keegan’s elegant attire and his wedding ring is simply awesome! The grandma stole the show in her light pink 3-piece pantsuit complete with a pearl row necklace and floral corsage. And the granddad rocked his bluish-black suit coupled with a white shirt, black printed tie, and a white rose boutonniere. Keegan’s dapper groomsmen wore slate-gray suits complete with shiny white bows and pocket squares, black formal shoes, and a boutonniere pretty much similar to the groom’s, the only element tying the entire wedding party’s look together. They all looked picture-perfect together!

We can’t talk forever about the attire, so let’s take you to their traditional wedding ceremony in the church. Just before the wedding vows, the bride and groom lit up the center candle from the two outside candles lit by their parents. Our wedding photographers beautifully captured the occasion. Soon after they exchanged their heartwarming vows in the presence of their nearest and dearest. The heavenly wedding ceremony ended up with the voice of the priest- “you may kiss the bride.” And without any delay, Keegan kissed his beautiful bride and sealed the deal of ‘forever together’ with her. Our photographer captured all the happy as well as tear-jerking moments in the best of frames one after another and once all the must-have photos were captured, they headed outdoors amidst the cheers and claps of their loved ones for some swoon-worthy wedding photography with their families and wedding party. We love the family portraits and the group photographs of the bride and the groom! Particularly the ones where the grandparents are posing with the couple. And the picture where Emily’s mother is pecking on her forehead is our fave. Ah, sooo sweet!

After the bright family moments were seized on the camera on a bright day on the steps of the church against the elegant doors, it was time to rope in the stunning bridesmaids and dashing groomsmen for some memorable pictures. Staging Vanity Fair-style group pictures is something that we really enjoy doing! It’s like a small theater play. Of course, the bride and her bridesmaids and our groom and his groomsmen also got their pictures with the refreshing city elements in the backdrop. We love the wedding party shots (both posed and candid!) against the Minneapolis city skyline. After the group photoshoot and family photo session our happy newly-married couple headed outside the church with our Minneapolis wedding photographer for the most essential pages of the wedding album - couple portraits and candids. Kayla seized magical couple portraits of the new spouses with the Minneapolis skyscrapers in the background. The couple photo where Emily and Keegan are sharing a kiss with the flowing veil in the air against the Twin City skyline looks straight out of the magazine! The wedding photographer used his creative skills and photo ops around the wedding venue to nail down the most romantic and dreamy couple pictures of the newly wedded couple. The pristine water in the background played the perfect backdrop to couple shots of the romantic couple reflecting the chemistry between them. The shots where Keegan is kissing her wife’s forehead against the quaint waters and where they both are sharing a kiss underneath the wispy veil are simply... UwU! And the photo where Keegan is dip kissing her brand new wife is no less than a movie poster! The photo of the duo wearing the masks will tell the tale to their coming generations - how their love sailed through the testing times!

After the awe-inspiring couple photography done in the lap of nature in the natural light, they made their way back to the reception venue- Minneapolis Event Centers which is a chic wedding venue located in right in the heart of the vibrant Saint Anthony Main District of Minneapolis. Sitting on the Mississippi River with walking distance to the historic Stone Arch Bridge and voted #1 destination for weddings in the Twin Cities, Minneapolis Event Centers offers world-class hospitality and sets the standard for an unparalleled guest experience. Minneapolis Event Centers indeed is the architect of exceptional occasions, delivering unparalleled white-glove service and a distinguished event experience for guests. The gorgeous Minneapolis wedding venue features three ravishing event spaces in addition to elegant Bridal and Groom suites to turn couples’ dream wedding into a beautiful reality. The Grand 1858, The View, and The Riverside. The Grand 1858 at Minneapolis Event Centers which was built in 1858 embraces the historic beauty of the brownstone style with a touch of modern elegance. The event room boasts an open floor plan and an all-glass atrium that leads guests to a lush garden patio. This stunning space can be easily transformed to fit your special event's vision. The View at Minneapolis Event Centers is the latest addition to the Minneapolis Event Centers' portfolio. This venue features a spacious, customizable floor plan and is awash with abundant natural light. Accents of the building's history, such as exposed brick and original wood flooring, give the space a rustic, organic feel. This space is an open canvas for your wedding and other wedding-related events.

The Riverside at Minneapolis Event Centers, where our beautiful couple had their reception, celebrates the renovation of a historic building overlooking the riverfront. Riverside offers a highly unique and versatile space for special events. A custom-made fiber optic chandelier is the focal point of the room and showered whimsy to the big day celebration. Tons of natural light, elevated ceilings, and dazzling views of downtown fused to craft a magically inviting space for Emily and Keegan's grand reception giving way to swoon-worthy wedding photos to cherish later of course! The exposed brick walls, high ceilings embellished with endless crystal strands, abundant natural light, a cosmic chandelier, and spectacular views of the city attached to an urban outdoor patio surrounded by lush greenery for amazing alfresco cocktail hour experiences.

After a warm welcome to the reception by their guests with cheers and toasts they had their favorite drinks and shortly after that, the lovely couple took to the dance floor for their first dance which was captured by our affordable wedding photographers in Minneapolis in the most romantic way. We love the way Emily’s bridal dress was flaring out and she was dancing comfortably without the veil or train. The sweet love in their eyes for each other and that smile, nothing was missed by the smart lady with the camera! She also froze the emotional mother-son dance, father-daughter dance moments of the couple in elegant frames. The thousands of sparkling crystal strands overhead and the chic circular Edison bulb chandelier wove the magic and added the 'wow factor' to the ambiance transporting the entire party to another world. The event space couldn't be more spectacular with the backdrop of the city from every angle, and the location of the hotel was convenient for their guests.

The sweet couple topped off their day with a simple yet elegant three-tiered wedding cake. It was a beautiful creation decked up with roses sparingly and a Mr. & Mrs. Everett cake topper complementing their color palette. The lifelike sugar flowers transformed the basic white cake from pretty simple to stunningly elegant. The careful balance of blooms and clean white tiers kept the floral clusters from overwhelming the cake. Our professional Minneapolis Event Centers Wedding photographer took beautiful pictures prior to its cutting, symbolizing the newlywed couple's pledge to support and nourish each other. Our favorite part of the cake cutting pictures are the facial expressions we capture and our bride and groom looked so natural and cute while posing with the cake.

We love LOVE. And being in the wedding industry, we love to pause true emotions and precious moments of people forever in beautiful stills so that they can play them whenever they want to feel every moment that has passed all over again, and maybe that’s why we are what we are- wedding photographers. Passionate to document love stories in beautiful pictures and videos and we love it when to-be-married couples don't hold anything back and share all their emotions with us forgetting the "photoshoot" aspect of it. And this is what we call ‘trust’ and that’s why we say we work WITH you not work for you. By expressing your wedding visions only you and we can work together to come up with a wedding album that you would love to cherish forever and a day. This collaboration and belief give us liberties to go all out while narrating your unique story to the world and allows you to focus on enjoying the happiest day of your life with your soulmate and embrace the spontaneous moments. All we want is- you just be you! If you're intimate and shy, or a bunch of goofballs looking to make each other laugh the whole time, then by all means embrace those things. We are here to guide you throughout the shoot, but we want you to enjoy the "imperfect" moments too and keep them natural. The best photos are where you show us those quirks that make you who you are.

It takes two truly adventurous souls to brave getting married during the testing times that 2020 brought our way. We are thrilled that this daring couple picked us to document their spectacular COVID wedding and the very energetic reception in the splendid city of Minneapolis. Emily and Keegan were a breeze to work with and we along with our wedding photographers enjoyed illuminating their special day with our photography skills in a magical way that they and their loved ones will not soon forget. We wish them hundreds of happy years!
