You’ll Go Gaga Over this Mansion Wedding Venue for Your Washington DC wedding!

No matter which city you are planning to get hitched in, these days, TBH, there's no shortage of wedding venues at your disposal. Indoor wedding or outdoor wedding, be it any kind, the secret to hosting a great wedding lies in perfect wedding planning and of course, a superb wedding venue with amazing staff. Why? Because it’s a chosen venue that executes what you have planned for your wedding day and shapes it up the way you have envisioned. Ballroom and mansion weddings have been all the rage for the last few years, for all good reasons. Plus, the cost of a mansion wedding is relatively low compared to traditional wedding venues. And if the wedding budget is not a problem for you, then you might want to go with one of these non-traditional wedding venues. There are so many things to consider before choosing your wedding venue. But if you would prefer a venue that will not be affected by unpredictable harsh weather, expensive tents, or early instances of guest exits, an indoor wedding venue such as a huge mansion can be the ultimate choice for your Washington, DC wedding.

Located on the Potomac River bordering Maryland and Virginia, Washington, DC is one of the most visited cities in the United States, with more than 20 million visitors annually! The capital of the United States of America is an extraordinary city and is home to some of the world’s most famous monuments and memorials. Besides being a working federal city, an international metropolis, a picturesque tourist destination, an unmatched treasury of the country’s history and artifacts, and a cosmopolitan center that retains a neighborly small-town ambiance, the city is loved by couples to perform their nuptials. Washington’s temperate climate with high humidity levels makes it difficult to predict the weather on your wedding day. However, if your wedding date falls in the month of May or October, there’s no real chance anymore that the weather is going to be all that nice. It’s great if you know how to deal with Washington, DC’s weather for a successful wedding. Also, going through the guide to Washington DC weddings and getting married in DC could be beneficial for you. With perfect planning, selecting the perfect wedding venue in DC becomes pretty easy. The nation’s capital may be on the small side, but it’s bursting with amazing venues, from rooftop wedding venues to waterfront wedding venues to unique wedding venues. Couples looking for a lux historic hotel venue steeped in history have just as many options as bohemian couples wanting to feed their industrial soul. DC can do a gorgeous hotel wedding like no other. And the best part is that DC is conveniently located in the Northeast corridor with easy access to points north and south via trains and buses as well as a short distance away from three airports. Once guests are within the city limits, getting to your wedding venue, rehearsal dinner location or other points of interest are generally a short ride away.

It’s not every day you get married at a mansion but if the period charm is high on your list, The Inn at Vint Hill is a must-see. Located in the small town of Vint Hill, Virginia, the historic manor wedding venue, The Inn at Vint Hill hosts events and attractions after being both the home to a significant farming operation in the 19th century and the headquarters of a military base during and after World War II. Peacefully sitting in Fauquier County, in the heart of horse and wine country, The Inn at Vint Hill just passed the hustle and bustle of the Northern Virginia and DC Metro area. The rich history, equestrian tradition, and rural farmlands in the surrounding area make this vintage and elegant house of red brick even more alluring. Fauquier County sits at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering a panoramic rolling landscape of farms and winding roads interspersed with numerous wineries and charming small towns like Warrenton, Marshall, and Vint Hill.

What makes The Inn at Vint Hill a cookie-cutter wedding venue?

You can expect a more rustic, yet sophisticated experience matched with unparalleled service and professionalism. Their chef will help you devise a menu suited to your event’s needs, whether it’s a banquet-style lunch, butler-served seated dinner, or a customized variation that fits with your event’s purpose and goals.

Many couples pick The Inn At Vint Hill to celebrate their wedding day or wedding-related events like rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, engagement party, and others. It is a gorgeous DC venue and reasonably priced for the elegance, warmth, inevitability, and historic charm that it offers the couples and their wedding party. The food is exquisite, yet not so extravagant that it can’t be enjoyed by everyone. Their personable and very accommodating staff makes sure that your The Inn At Vint Hill wedding is nothing short of mind-blowing!

History-rich venue

Adding a uniquely coveted character to the event spaces, the rich history of The Inn at Vint Hill dates back to the 1860s. The Inn is a revered staple in the Northern Piedmont Region that repletes with historical significance spanning multiple wars and periods of peace. Evolved over the years from a family home to an active post for the United States Army Station and later an Officer’s Club, the estate we see today is the result of so many renovations, restorations, and additions. The preservation of its original hardwood flooring, colonial architecture, and remarkable layout helps to create an inviting ambiance for your special events and the timeless backdrop for photography.

In 1860 Bessie and Andrew Low began to build a high-style Italianate, brick mansion named “Vint Hill” on their prosperous cattle and sheep farm. Throughout the Civil War, the Lows and their children (15, give or take) flew the Union Jack flag, a symbol of neutrality, over the property to save their newly built home. In 1863, one known incident, the “Grapewood Encounter” broke this unspoken Civil War neutrality agreement. Colonel John S. Mosby and his rangers clashed with Union forces near the back gate. Rich in heritage, the property’s original farmhouse was remodeled and renamed, Silvermead, for the Low’s eldest son Douglas and his new bride, Marie in 1885. At the time, the newlyweds were conspicuously missing a kitchen, as Bessie Low preferred the young couple eat at the manor house. Mitchell Harrison, a Philadelphia entrepreneur purchased Vint Hill in 1911. He renovated the mansion in 1916, converting the home to a Colonial Revival-style Country house, doubling its original size. The mansion became a hub of Fauquier County Society, with elegant parties for fashionable guests. Unprecedented in Fauquier County, Mr. Harrison modernized the farm into a premier country estate with purebred livestock.

During World War II, in June of 1942, the United States Army bought the farm, and immediately the Second Signal Service Battalion began interception of enemy radio communication, establishing the country’s first “listening post” and intelligence training headquarters. It later became the Officers’ Club and Quarters and in 1992, the post commander made the facility a community club and renamed it “The Inn at Vint Hill.” The United States Vint Hill Farms Station was decommissioned in the late 1990s allowing The Inn to fall under private ownership. Today the community of Vint Hill offers a superior quality of life with The Inn as its centerpiece.

While the hardwood floors decked up with columns, grand pianos (photo op alert!), and other antique decor items gleaming under the golden glow of chandeliers take your wedding ceremony photographs to notches higher, the ethereal settings and picturesque views at the Lawn under the blue skies overhead and lush green grass underfoot, set the gorgeous backdrop for your ‘I do’ moment making it nothing short of dreamy! Seal the deal with a kiss amidst dazzling views and promise to be by each other’s side forever! And the best part is that guests don't have to travel far with a reception tent set up on the property beside the mansion. This ensures that The Inn can accommodate all your near and dear ones attending the grand ceremony. In fact, tent receptions ooze elegance at this estate, with touches such as arched window panels and overhead lights. While they are connecting with each other, slip away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding festivities for some time and pose with your bridal party against the trickling fountain for breathtaking pictures!

After the ceremony, you can head with your guests to the Red Room for a lavish cocktail party. The moment you’ll enter the Red Room, your guests will immediately be arrested by the enchanting ambiance inside. The dazzling dance floor calls the newly-married couple to have their ‘first dance’ and our Washington DC wedding photographers to brilliantly capture all their romantic moves and spins in the most artistic frames. The bride’s dance with her father is the moment that she would find in her wedding photo book when you would be 80yo and try to feel it touch the picture with welled up eyes! And our wedding photographers in Washington DC seize this fragile and utterly precious father-daughter wedding dance moment for the bride to treasure in her vault. While your guests take to the dance floor and dance the night away, moving to the Patio for sunset shots is a great idea especially before the sun signs off for the day. Your wedding album is incomplete with the mesmerizing golden hour couple portraits and night photography! It’s all you and your BAE!

The Inn at Vint Hill also houses Escape Vint Hill, a puzzle-solving escape room to experience drawing from the historic events that took place within the room’s very walls. The escape room’s mission, the Cuban Missile Experience, simulates the objective to end the Cuban Missile Crisis through a series of challenging puzzles. Escape Vint Hill takes you back in history and into the shoes of President Kennedy to divert the imminence of attack. The solution-oriented experience is a fun activity for groups up to 14 people, and excellent team-building bonus for private parties.
