All that Glimmers is Gold at Lauren and Tommy’s Houston Wedding

02-21-19

Lauren and Tommy tied the knot with a glorious Houston fete at The Bell Tower on 34th.

Lauren looked right at home getting ready at The Bell Tower on 34th, where she had taken her bridal portraits shortly before the wedding. Lauren’s look remained true to how she was photographed for her bridal portrait session. She wore her hair down in loose curls that complimented the simple grandeur of her dress. The modern design of the lace pattern and touches of sparkle via Lauren’s teardrop earrings and embellished belt brought something unexpected to the look.

Their wedding photographer expertly used Lauren’s handkerchief with lace detailing as a cushion for the ring photo. We love all the depth and dimension in this photo, incorporating accessories like the handkerchief and her shoes while giving the rings center focus.

The bridesmaids wore champagne satin robes for the getting ready portion of the day. We love how this subtle color difference from Lauren’s white robe looked in the group photos, especially with the neutral color palette of the room. Once it was time to get dressed, the bridesmaids kept it in champagne with their bridesmaid dresses. The groom and groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with black bowties, in keeping with the sophisticated air of the occasion.

For their portraits, Lauren and Tommy started with a “no look” first look. The couple read letters they’d written to each other while holding hands, positioned around the corner of a doorway. “No look” first looks are a great middle ground for a couple who wants a private moment but also wants their wedding photographer to capture the moment of the day. There’s nothing like seeing the look of bliss on the couple's faces as they read the words of love they’ve penned to one another.

The couple’s beautiful ceremony took place outside, filled with intimate romance. The aisle was lined with rose petals and lanterns. The ring bearer and flower girl dresses as mini-versions of the bridal party—in a tux and champagne dress, respectively.

The ceremony was filled with exquisite moments of emotion and affection. The stone arches acted as the perfect backdrop for Lauren and Tommy to share their first kiss as a married couple. Then, it was time to party.

The reception decor was filled with touches of gold. All the tables were covered in black tablecloths. Each place setting was fitted with a charger. Some tables had gold, others black. Taking an approach of mix-matched chargers is a great way to make the reception feel eclectic. If you’re planning on keeping the chargers, it makes more sense for your personal collection to have variety, too!

Lauren and Tommy brought the drama with their first dance, including a big sweeping dip. We love this romantic silhouette and how their wedding photographer captured it.
