Point Judith Lighthouse

Just a short distance from Providence is the Point Judith Lighthouse, a fantastic destination full of character and history that will make your engagement photographs come to life. 

Built in 1818, the octagonal, brick lighthouse makes a bold statement as it rises suddenly out of the ground on the green lawn of a bluff bordering the blue waters of the ocean. The tiny, red-roofed house nestled next to the lighthouse is simply adorable and brings a spark of sentimentality to the bright and colorful scene. Up close, you’ll notice the lighthouse has some weathering, giving it even more visual interest and texture. 

From the lighthouse, you can walk down to the pebbly beach and enjoy the colors where the blue meets the sandy and multi-colored stone textures of the ground beneath your feet. The rocks make an interesting visual choice to feature in your photographs with their blunt, smooth surfaces. Nearby, you can walk through gardens that bloom yellow and pink in the spring, adding even more color to this New England haven.
