Harkness Memorial State Park

Located just a short distance from Hartford is the Harkness Memorial State Park, a recreational area built on the grounds of a mansion and its accompanying gardens. This is a delightfully romantic spot for your engagement shoot, filled with fascinating architecture and beautiful landscaping that will bring your photographs to life. 

The mansion is a vision in white stone and green roofing, built in the Roman Renaissance Revival style, and surrounded by formal gardens. In the spring, the pink flowers of blooming trees add a lovely pop of color to the stately mansion, which is magnificent in its pillars and stone walls. Enjoy the covered balustrade from which wisteria dangles, or step down to the fountain where you’ll feel as if you’ve gone back in time. 

In the area surrounding the mansion, you’ll find many other kinds of backdrops and scenery that you’ll love, from the twisting branches of the trees to fields of tall grass that overlook the Atlantic Ocean or the soft sands of the beach itself.
