See more about meHi, I am Gabriel and I am a Boston-based photographer. You can often find me whistling a day away at the art institute, oogling all the fashionable habitués; in Boston Commons, getting sidetracked by rose brambles and sushi hankerings; fiddling barefoot under a tree on Castle Island or strapped to the hilt with camping gear, the camera on shoulder, lost in the great north woods. I'm a little different than what you might expect. I graduated with a journalism degree from Northwestern University, but after years of working at newspapers, coffee shops, and oddball jobs, I've settled on something I couldn't imagine not doing: getting to know couples in love. To me, my couples are people with a lifetime of adventures, stories, failures, and successes -- not just clients. If I'm lucky, I get to hear those stories, glimpse those adventures, and play my part in making sure it's all remembered. The journalist's heart reveals because in knowing them, I know a little more about the world around me.
My approach is calm and client-centric. I don't push for 'must-have' shots. I don't disrupt the experience of the day. I enable clients to live it, not to think about how they might look back on it. Once they're present for themselves, my documentary eye (honed in journalism school) does its job.
Beyond the artistic creativity of capturing light/composition/moment, there's an incredible psychology behind every individual - where they're from, why they are who they are, what makes them tick - that makes every experience stand alone.
