01-21-18

Milwaukee is unique in that it's a big city that's replete with small-town charm. Our favorite photography locations in Milwaukee are each unique and yet quintessentially Milwaukee. The Historic Third Ward is the epitome of urban cool. The industrial buildings in the area date back a century and are so breathtaking they've been selected for the National Register of Historic Places. Discovery World is another great spot that highlights the city at its best. If you're looking for a natural setting, check out Whitnall Park and Mitchell Park. Whitnall Park is a wooded wonderland, and Mitchell park will give you a view of water flanked by an expansive grassland.

04. WHITNALL PARK

Whitnall Park is Wisconsin at its most idyllic. The park is located southwest of downtown Milwaukee, making it an accessible patch of nature. Here you'll find gorgeous woods filled with towering trees. The leaves are a lush green in spring and summer and a kaleidoscope of colors in the fall. You'll also find lakes that glimmer in the sunlight and stretches of scenic walking trails. The botanic gardens at Whitnall Park are filled with plants and greenery that will accentuate your photos. No matter what time of year you visit, there's something to love at Whitnall Park!

03. DISCOVERY WORLD

Location is everything, which makes Discovery World such an unbeatable for photos in Milwaukee. Nestled on the shore of Lake Michigan, at Discovery World you'll find a wide variety of attractions. At the Pilot House, you'll be able to enjoy 360-degree views of the city. Discovery World is also home to the aquarium and a variety of museum exhibits, in addition to the promenade, where you and your fianceé can stroll hand-in-hand as you take it all in. The clean lines of Discovery World will give your photos an aura of sophisticated modernity, but you'll also find weathered boats if you're looking for a more rustic, nautical feel.

02. MITCHELL PARK

The differences between Whitnall and Mitchell Park illustrate the variety to be found in the Wisconsin landscape. Instead of woods, Mitchell Park gives you the expansive views of the plains. Of course, there are still some lovely trees that punctuate the landscape. You'll find some picturesque wood-planked walking paths. The undeveloped look of the park will make you feel like you're experiencing Wisconsin in its natural state. The water is bordered by a line of shrubs and bushes. You'll find tall grasses and so much more. It's also home to the Sheryl Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, making it well worth the short trip west from Milwaukee.

01. HISTORIC THIRD WARD

The Historic Third Ward in Milwaukee is a remarkable industrial play place. We're not alone in our regard the Historic Third Ward. It's been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You'll feel the palpable charm of the turn-of-the-century architecture. The most amazing thing about the Historic Third Ward is that all of the industrial buildings are in mint condition. The neighborhood, which is now home to Milwaukee's Arts and Fashion District, is peppered with theaters, galleries, restaurant, and boutiques. It's an easily walkable place, right on the Milwaukee River, and it's rich in authentic urban flair.
