Jeremy and Nick Go from Denim to Black Tie in Their Engagement and Wedding Photography, Philadelphia

04-02-19

Philadelphia couple Jeremy and Nick worked with the same photographer for both their engagement and wedding photos and this double feature has a lot going for it. The couple showed us how its done when you want to bring variety to your photos-- both in dress code and settings.

Jeremy and Nick kept it casual and well-styled for their engagement session. They chose Fairmount Park as the setting for their engagement session, which gave them seclusion, a lovely natural setting, and a view of the Philadelphia skyline.

For their first look, Jeremy and Nick both wore shorts and sneakers. We love this casual take, and we don’t see it very often. Jeremy paired his black shorts with an olive tee, which Nick opted for a denim-on-denim look, pairing his denim shorts with a denim jacket and white t-shirt. LGBT engagement sessions have a unique sartorial opportunity. Same-sex couples get to play with matching and variations in such a fun and unexpected way. The two looked so in love and moved in front of the camera effortlessly.

For their second look, the grooms-to-be changed into long pants and long sleeves. Nick sported a navy hoody with dark denim and classic Timberlands. Jeremy wore light wash jeans with a dark denim jacket and navy high tops. Their fashion-forward approach to casual attire made their engagement session feel put-together and very much their own.

When it came time for the wedding day, the grooms went super elegant. The black-tie Philadelphia wedding was a modern city wedding with tons of elegant details at the Down Town Club. Both Nick and Jeremy wore navy tuxedos-- Jeremy’s had a shawl collar and Nick’s had a peak lapel. We love this style approach for an LGBT wedding, where the grooms embrace symmetry with subtle variation. The look was emblematic of their bond, while also allowing for them to have their own moments to shine-- just like a good marriage should!

We love the modern spin the couple took on “white” in a wedding. They dressed the women of the wedding party in white dresses. It made for a striking look, accentuating the open white space of the Down Town Club, and it made the dark blue of Nick and Jeremy’s look pop.

Instead of a ceremony arch, the couple opted for a wall of fluffy white flowers, flanked by tall arrangements of the same flowers.

We love how their reception space was classy and elegant. There were more white lines, accents of silver, and tally fluffy arrangements of hydrangeas. The uplighting in the space made the room’s features pop, while lucite chairs kept things feeling modern.

Nick and Jeremy’s portraits together are so dreamy. We love the shot of them with their heads together and the sun shining through, adorning them with a crown of warm sunlight. Their wedding party photos are dramatic, sophisticated, and left us yearning for more.

For their cake cutting, Nick took off his jacket, cutting the cake in his suspenders, while Jeremy kept his ceremony the whole time. We love this lived-in elegance, and we wish we could get a slice of that cake.
