Bold colors, sharp edges and cleans lines, gorgeous backdrops and an equally gorgeous couple! There is nothing ordinary about the engagement photoshoot of Fatima and Ahmed.
They wanted to include the stunning architectural masterpieces of Detroit, MI as their backdrop to grace their engagement photographs. By doing so, they are paying ode to the city of Detroit- the beating heart of creative industries. And what better place to shoot Detroit in its best elements? Belle Isle, of course!
Belle Isle, or Belle Isle Park, is a gem of Detroit offering the right balance of history and natural beauty. The location covers 987-acre of island park which includes three lakes, 150 acres of wooded area and spectacular views of the Detroit and Windsor skyline.
The couple dressed up in screaming colors that are vibrant, happy and bold, and by no means intended to blend in the background in any way. Fatima was dressed in a rust orange silky top paired with a maxi skirt in a brilliant inky blue. Ahmed perfected that look with a formal jacket in the same blue, a white and blue striped shirt, and a pair of tan trousers.
Fatima and Ahmed looked like a ray of happy sunshine in every frame, adding that magic to the architectural mastery and the natural elements alike, creating one stunning frame after another-creating art on its own! The look was balanced and perfectly complemented by the location.
The beautiful stone passages, cascading marble staircases, larger-than-life archways, and the trees with changing colors all play the part in creating that picture-perfect moment! The terrace looked out to the skyline of the city, making it the majestic background for some couple’s portrait shots and some artsy silhouette shots. Their session went from historical, to natural, to modern with seamless progression and the couple did justice to each mood!
The couple had a quick outfit change to wear something more casual and ‘street’ appropriate like jackets and jeans, which was perfect for the second half of their session. The look went with the mural shots and street art better. The pops of color in the art brought in an element of ‘cool’ to the photographs.
The historic mastery coexists coherently with the contemporary self-expression in Detroit, which can be seen effortlessly in the city’s sharp edges, striking architectural structures, breathtaking natural sceneries, glorious skylines, and a riot of street murals, and the pictures did perfect justice to the vibe of the city!
