What does it take to stage a cityscape engagement session with cinematic quality? Meticulous planning. Alexandra and Sonny clearly scoped out the scene ahead of time to stage their Butler Park engagement session in downtown Austin. The result? Epic, playful and famously romantic shots.

Their Austin wedding photographer had no shortage of interesting backdrops to shoot, from the glimmering skyline to winding green paths and a plaza fountain. We love the unexpected combo of the urban cityscape lightened with touches of whimsy, including their very own dog, a jubilant bunch of pink balloons and soft, semi-formal attire.

The couple started their day session in more casual outfits. Sonny’s casual easy grey blazer and Alexandra’s breezy, floral dress were perfect for a stroll in the park with their pup! It was as though their Austin wedding photographer just happened to snap them in their natural weekend element. After a quick outfit change into more formal attire, Alexandra and Sonny circle back to capture gorgeous photos at the fountain at dusk. Sonny looks handsome in his navy suit while Alexandra radiates romantic elegance with her long blush dress and bouquet of pink balloons trailing behind her. Such a fun and interactive prop!

These two carefully considered the color composition when they planned their shoot. Their photos in front of Long Center for the Performing Artsprove it! Their wardrobe composed a graphic mosaic of dusty pink, blue and lavender against the building’s window reflections.

From sunshine day to moody dusk, Alexandra and Sonny timed their shoot just right to capture a full spectrum of different lighting situations, ending with a stunning night portrait!
