9 New Hues That Color Us Happy

02-21-18

What are your wedding colors? It’s a question you’ll hear almost as soon as the ring is on your finger. Color is an easy way to make a big impact on your big day. Our advice—think outside the crayon box and consider these unexpected color combos that work. Here are some of our faves.

Orange + Hot Pink

Modern, vibrant and a little tropical, we love this statement wedding color palette on everything from cake to dresses. Want to tone it down? Incorporate just a few accents into your bridesmaid bouquets.

Turquoise + Tangerine

This warm/cool combo naturally creates a “global” feel. Lighter shades of blue/green are totally wearable—think mint or aqua—and make the tangerine hue pop, especially with bright white or gold as accents. It’s a fun option to explore for a travel-themed wedding.

Red + Kelly Green

Equally rich and vibrant on their own end of the color spectrum, these complementary hues create a surprisingly sophisticated look. Use bright white as an accent, or ground it with an earthy neutral, like navy or brown.

Bright Red + Coral + Olive Green

Alluring, intriguing and completely inviting. Tonal shades of coral and pink keep this combo from looking too holiday. Your bridesmaids would be stunning in a spectrum of red, pink, coral or even magenta. With a lot of brights in the mix, you’ll want to keep your bouquets simple and monochromatic.

Navy Blue + Coral

The warmth and vibrancy of coral contrasts nicely with a rich navy blue. Play with a mix of textures and pattern to add more interest with layers of luxe velvet, tulle and satin.

Teal + Citrusy Yellow

These happy hues are one of our favorite pairings for rustic weddings. The deep jewel-tone of teal is electrified with a shock of bright yellow. These two are standouts against natural elements.

Lime Green + Golden Yellow

Talk about fresh. Think of this fun combo as a twist of citrus. Keep your surroundings neutral and let these accents take center stage. Try arranging lime green in your wedding flowers and setting your reception tables with golden yellow napkins.

Coral + Golden Yellow + Gray

Gray grounds this combo as a totally sophisticated, yet wearable neutral. It’s a quietly striking and flattering shade for bridesmaid dresses (your girls will thank you). Add vivid pop to your bouquets or wedding decor with elements of coral and golden yellow.

Aqua + Bright Red

Tonal hues of blue and vibrant red create a surprisingly balanced and tranquil combination that we think is the new nautical--especially with bright white accents.
