Getting married in the city but fancy a rustic-romantic setting? You can still keep your city edge with this aesthetic! Take it from Cheryl and John who had an effortlessly cool wedding in Downtown Detroit.

Sitting on the water’s edge, the stately white 10,000- square-foot Cromaine Lodge at Waldenwoods Resort & Conference Center set the stage for storybook wedding photography.

Cheryl’s something blue came in the form of Robin egg blue Badgley Mischka stunners - peep-toe pumps accented with a bejeweled brooch. Her wedding dress was gorgeously memorable with its fitted, glittery bodice and cascading ruffled skirt. 

The bridesmaid dresses were the epitome of femininity in the wedding’s signature color: misty blue. Topped with a delicate lace bodice, the dresses flowed down to a Grecian-style bottom. The guys looked dapper in midnight blue tuxedos.

Cheryl and John had one of the most heartwarming first looks we’ve ever seen! And their Detroit wedding photographer captured the magic perfectly. They were both smiling ear to ear - You can truly see how excited John was to see his beautiful bride. 

Yes, they braved a little rain. But rain on your wedding day isn’t so bad! It’s believed to be good luck, but it also sets just the right lighting conditions for beautiful wedding photography - especially once the sun goes down. And they owned it - they literally danced in the rain.

Their decor touches were spot on. We love the shabby-chic assemblage of ribbons streaming from the pergola as ceremony decor. Delicate fairy lights were strung across the lodge-like reception room. And how gorgeous is their wedding cake? Keeping with the rustic theme, it’s a nearly naked cake topped with small clusters of multicolor florals. 

They ended the evening with a classic sparkler sendoff that lit up the night sky. A different kind of city lights.
