Brittany & Brett’s Epic & Eclectic Chicago Wedding

05-17-17

When Brittany and Brett tied the knot in Chicago, they did it their way. And, boy, was it ever spectacular. Equal parts boho-chic and retro-glam, every last detail of their wedding celebrated the playful, adventurous and loving nature of this one-of-a-kind couple. The historic Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago set the scene in the bygone glamour of the roaring ‘20s. With its gilded domed ceiling and ornate architecture, this majestic spot is one of Chicago’s most alluring wedding venues.

When the big moment came for their first look, Brett was clearly enchanted by Brittany’s dramatic bridal style. Her romantic lace wedding dress captivated from top to bottom, with an intricate halter neck, open keyhole back and swingy fringe tiered bottom - this dress was so made for dancing!

Brittany’s hands and feet were adorned with ceremonial henna tattoos in a nod to the eastern bridal custom. Forgoing a traditional bridal veil and throwing the expected flower crown for a loop, Brittany instead opted for a chunky braided crown threaded with glimmering fairy lights and lush flowers pinned in the back. Bold, blackberry lips added a deep pop of color. Brett looked quite dapper in his distinctive groom style. His maroon suit jacket perfectly complemented Brittany’s wine-hued accents.

This couple’s colorful personality was also reflected in the attire they chose for their wedding party. Each bridesmaid donned a beautiful shade of green in different dress styles that showcased their unique personalities. Strappy gold sandals finished the look. The groomsmen sported navy blue jackets with tan bow ties and neckties.

The bride, groom and wedding party hit the town in a city trolley for some epic portraits that showcased the grandeur of Chicago. After cruising down the Magnificent Mile, they stumbled upon a fair at Navy Pier where the wedding photographer captured the most memorable shot of the group on a swing carousel. The vivid color of the ride and fancy-free feeling brought the photo to life. The photo tour continued with some quintessential shots along Lakeshore Drive, overlooking the aquamarine waters of Lake Michigan and the iconic architecture of the Chicago skyline.

Back at the gorgeous Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago, the ceremony was as intimate as it was elegant. Their signature colors of black, wine and gold carried through every place setting and piece of decor - from the brocade napkins and gold-rimmed plates to the artistic red velvet wedding cake. Fittingly enough, the Chicago skyline grounded the cake, with each tier dripping in metallic gold. The cake was topped with a golden silhouette of the couple pedaling a tandem bike.

We can’t think of a better way to ride off into the sunset after saying, “I do.”
