Who says your wedding guest list has to be humans-only? More and more couples are including their favorite furry family member, their pet, in some way on their wedding day. We always think it’s a great idea to consider making your pet part of your wedding festivities, heeling at the altar as you say ‘I do’!

Still, from the ceremony to the reception — and all the photo ops in between — you may be wondering how your furry friend will fit into the celebration. We understand that every big day is unique, and thankfully there’s several ways to have still everyone included. Here are 4 special ways to incorporate your prized pet in your big day!
 

 

#1. By Your Side. Why not make them a member of the wedding party? Having Spot next to you at the altar is a sweet way to make him a part of the day and will certainly be a crowd pleaser for your guests! Sitting sweetly in your bridal party is both honorable and adorable. Don’t forget the accessories, too. We love a wreath of flowers or bowtie for the occasion.
 

 

#2. Here Comes the Pup! If you worry your precious pup may not sit through the whole ceremony, consider asking a member of your bridal party to walk him down the aisle! Attach a “Here Comes the Bride” sign to your pup’s collar and voila — a moment that’s too cute for words! Pass the leash after your pup’s had his or her moment in the spotlight, and consider their duty complete. And remember, practice makes perfect if your dog has a special task on the big day. Work on heeling, coming when signaled or called, and no jumping! They’ll be ready in no time.
 

 

#3. Pet-Friendly Details. Including your pet in the wedding details and decor is one way to emphasize just how much they mean to you. A photo or illustration of your pet can provide the perfect personal touch to your invitations or reception decor. You can also honor your pet by asking guests to make donations to your favorite animal-focused charity! We’ve also seen (and loved) menus, cocktail napkins, appropriately named signature cocktails, and favors honoring your favorite fido.
 

 

#4. Star of Your Save-the-Dates. Even if you can’t include your precious pooch in the wedding, there’s always the option of incorporating him or her in your engagement photos and save-the-dates! Have a designated handler on the day of the session to help the session go smoothly. Consider having them wear something to compliment your engagement session style and bring lots of treats. Looking so cute deserves a special reward!
 

With these tips in mind, your pet will undoubtedly be everyone’s favorite wedding guest! Whether in a day-of detail or included as an official pup of honor or ring barker, your dog with feel the love come the big day.
